Garage Heater Language

What are Stages?

Stages describe the different levels of heat output. A two-stage gas valve will have high and low settings for different levels of demand, while a single-stage model operates at one level.

What Does kBTU mean?

kBTU means one-thousand British Thermal Units. In simple terms, it's a measurement to determine the heat output of an appliance. For sizing, a garage typically needs about 50 kBTU per square foot.

icon

What does dB mean?

Decibel or dB is used to measure the loudness of sound, and heat pumps typically range anywhere from 52-75 sound decibels. The lower this number is, the less intense or softer sounding the outdoor unit will be.

What Does AFUE Mean?

“AFUE” stands for Annual Fuel Utilization Efficiency. The AFUE rating reports how effectively a garage heater converts fuel into heat for our homes. The higher the AFUE, the less money you'll spend on energy.

What's the best Garage Heater Brand?

We’re usually not biased, but we would have to say Reznor. We’re big on aesthetics; we’ve seen them all, and there isn’t another unit nearly as good-looking as a Reznor. Personal opinions aside, Reznor has more than 130 years of experience and is the global leader in the unit heater category.

How Much Does a Garage Heater Cost?

The cost of installing a garage heater will depend on a few factors, including the size of your space and the material requirements, but that’s not the answer you’re looking for, and happily, we have data.

The average cost of installing fifteen Reznor garage heaters in 2022 is $4,034. Keep in mind that this average includes all sorts of installations, from single car spaces all the way up to light commercial auto shops.

What Fuel is Used?

Reznor garage heaters are available in both natural gas and propane models. Unlike furnaces, Reznor garage heaters do not use conversion kits. The natural gas and propane units are different models, so it important to ensure the correct model is selected before installing the machine.

What Size Do I Need?

This depends on a few factors and is best discussed on-site with a professional. Someone who only wants to maintain above-freezing temperatures will have different needs from someone who is building up a golf simulator or home gym. That said, a good rule of thumb is 50kBTU per square foot of floor space. The Reznor UDX is available in 30kBTU, 45kBTU, 60kBTU, 75kBTU all the way to 400kBTU.

Can I Control a Garage Heater with a Smart Thermostat?

Yes, you can. The Reznor UDX can operate on a smart thermostat like the Ecobee. This is a great option for people who use their garage as a workshop or home gym. Right before you are ready to go, turn on the Reznor via smartphone and only pay for the heat you need.

What Warranty Does Comfort Hub Provide?

In most cases, we match the manufacturer’s parts warranty with an equivalent labor warranty. For example, Reznor products have a standard five-year parts warranty, and we match that with a five-year labor warranty. This is our way of saying that we stand behind the products we install.

Does Comfort Hub use Sub-Contractors?

Absolutely not. All our technicians are fully licensed employees. Each proposal has a no sub-contractor guarantee, so you can rest assured that your products will be installed correctly the first time around with us; it’s what we do best, after all.
